Last night, my girlfriend was washing her hair like normal when she suddenly froze and shouted my name from the bathroom. I walked in thinking maybe she slipped or got shampoo in her eyes, but instead she was just standing there staring at something in her hand with the weirdest expression on her face.
Sitting on the wet tissue was this tiny brown thing, about 1 cm long, that had apparently fallen straight out of her hair while she was shampooing. At first glance it honestly looked horrifying. We both immediately thought:
The thing looked so strange that neither of us wanted to touch it. We literally sat there for almost half an hour zooming in with our phones and searching online trying to figure out what we were looking at.
The more we stared at it, the creepier it became.
Eventually, after reading dozens of comments and comparing pictures online, we realized it was most likely just a hardened scalp buildup — basically compacted oil, dead skin, and keratin that had probably formed around a hair follicle for a long time before finally loosening during the wash.
Apparently it’s more common than people think.
