Investigation Underway

Authorities have collected CCTV footage from a camera installed near the ticket booth. According to Benny Timor Prasetyo, Deputy Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit, a full forensic investigation was scheduled for October 26.

Officials are now working to determine the exact cause of the collapse, including possible structural or safety failures.

Safety Concerns Raised

Prior to the accident, Mr. Eko Purnomo, head of the Limpakuwus forest management, had reportedly contacted relevant agencies in April to assess safety conditions when the tourist site first opened.

Notably, the Geong pine forest and Limpakuwus forest are located within the same area but are managed by different authorities—raising concerns about coordination and oversight.

Tourist Site Closed

Following the incident, the entire area has been temporarily closed to facilitate the police investigation.

The absence of the head of the management unit responsible for the glass bridge at the press conference has also sparked public criticism and concern over accountability.

Final Thoughts

This tragic accident highlights the importance of strict safety standards at tourist attractions, especially those involving high-risk structures like glass bridges.

Authorities are expected to release further findings as the investigation continues.
